“Won’t I lose my Google rankings?”
Not if the migration is done properly. Here’s what actually happens:
Google ranks pages, not platforms. When a page moves, Google follows the redirect and transfers the ranking to the new URL. If every old URL has a redirect, the site keeps its rankings. If redirects are missing, it doesn’t. That’s the whole story.
Most businesses see rankings hold within two to four weeks and then improve, because the new site is faster and structured better than the old one. The 60-day monitoring window is there so nothing slips through.
If your site currently ranks for nothing, which is common on Wix and GoDaddy, you have nothing to lose and the rebuild is where the ranking starts.
What staying costs
